I.T. Week at BSU
BSU President, Dr. Ben D. Ladilad, addresses Information Technology students during the opening of BSU’s celebration of the IT Week on February 11, 2013 at the CAS quadrangle along with College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) faculty and staff. Referring to the theme, “IT Innovation, the Key for Life Automation” Dr. Ladilad mentioned e-commerce and e-transactions as a way of keeping up with other Universities in Asia. He encouraged the IT students and faculty to learn more of these. The activities lined up during the IT week from February 11 to15 include exhibits, current IT lectures, competitions, and film showings.
2013 is national year of the rice
BSU officially joins the promotion of 2013 as the National Year of Rice (NYR) through the unveiling of the NYR banner during the regular Monday flag ceremony on February 11 by BSU President Ben D. Ladilad with Public Relations Officer Sheryl I. Fernando, ROTC Coordinator Angel Cawat, and VP for Administration Alfredo C. Tipayno. President Aquino has declared 2013 as NYR under Proclamation No. 494 with the goal of enjoining everyone to help achieve rice self-sufficiency. The Panatang Maka-PALAY, also recited during the flag ceremony goes: Bilang isang mamayang Pilipino/Nakikiisa ako sa panatang huwag magsayang ng kanin at bigas/Magsaing ako ng sapat lamang/At sisiguraduhing tama ang pagkakaluto nito.//Kukuha ako ng kaya kong ubusin upang sa aking pinggan ay walang matirang kanin/Ganun din ang aking gagawin kung may handaan o kung sa labas ako kakain/Ang brown rice o pinawa ay susubukan kong kainin pati na ang ibang pagkain bukod sa kanin tulad ng saba, kamote, at mais.//Ituturo ko sa iba ang responsableng pagkunsumo ng mabigyang halaga ang pagod ng mga magsasaka at makatulong na maging sapat ang bigas sa Pilipinas.//Aking isasapuso ang panatang ito, dahil sa bawat butil ng bigas o kanin na aking matitipid ay may buhay na masasagip.
RAATI SY 2012-2013
The BSU ROTC Unit stands at attention to welcome the Regional Annual Administrative Tactical Inspection (RAATI) team led by RAATI Chairman, Col. Jonathan G. Ponce INF (GSC) PA, during the regular Monday flag ceremony on February 11.
ILC produces another batch
The 34 graduates of the BSU-International Language Center singing their graduation song, Miley Cyrus’ The Climb during their graduation ceremonies held on January 30, 2013 at the Strawberry Hall. The graduates come from Chungbuk Provincial College and Sangju Middle School in Korea.//
