BSU and 7 HEIs Ink MOA to Create CODEPP

After a fruitful meeting of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of Open Distance Education Providers in the Philippines last August 17, 2022 at Ifugao State University, partner HEIs signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) forming the Consortium of Open Distance Education Providers in the Philippines (CODEPP) that will further push forward open eDistance learning in the country.

Partner HEIs - Benguet State University, led by President  Felipe Salaing Comila, the University of the Philippines (UPOU), represented by Chancellor Dr. Melinda DP. Bandalaria, Cavite State University (CvSU), represented by Dr. Hernando D. Robles, Central Luzon State University (CLSU), represented by Dr. Edgar A. Orden, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), Dr. Jaime I. Manuel Jr., Ifugao State University (IFSU), represented by Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, John B. Lacson, Foundation Maritime University - Arevalo, represented by Dr. Ronald Raymond L. Sebastian, and Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), represented by Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) forming a consortium at the Rogelio Dulay Colting Sr., Hall on January 31, 2023.

Through the MOA, BSU and the other universities' institutes consent to be the Consortium's founding members and agree to carry out activities on its behalf. For the first two (2) years following the introduction of CODEPP, UPOU will serve as Chair of the Consortium as the pioneer and leading institution in open and distance learning in the Philippines.

The MOA signing of the consortium aims to: increase the opportunities for knowledge and idea-sharing to raise the standard of distance education in the Philippines; promote and concretely implement strategies for inclusive and lifelong learning, provide a forum for the sharing of experiences and best practices in instruction and research findings in flexible technology-enhanced, and open distance eLearning among consortium members and other interested institutions; Equip consortium members to increase their capacity to accept more students covered by the RA-10931 (Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act) by delivering instruction via fully open and distance eLearning modalities that are technology-enhanced; and reinforce and highlight the consortium's and other universities' collaboration in supporting open and inclusive education.//
