November 7, 2023

A group of Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) faculty staff members led by Director Neil L. Egloso of External Affairs and Internationalization, paid a visit to the university for a benchmarking activity on technopreneurship and other related matters.

This is in line with their aim to amplify and enhance their research and development efforts in the said field through their project PITCH (PIT Innovation Technopreneurship and Commercialization Hub) which aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in their group and area.

The group had a discussion with the BSU Food Science Research and Innovation Center (FSRIC) Director Lesley Dale G. Umayat who talked about the operation, management, production, and other processes and best practices of the center. He also expounded on topics of profitability, commercialization, partnerships, and collaboration besides other crucial aspects of technopreneurship.

In addition, Director Umayat emphasized the importance of considering the social relevance of every research and development endeavor undertaken as “looking for the real problems in the community is the basis of all research.” With this, he stressed the significance of considering the community people’s point of view in crafting and implementing problem solutions.

Finally, the FSRIC director also facilitated a quick facility tour at the BSU Agri-based Technology Business Incubator/Innovation Center (ATBI/IC).
