A
total of 1,922 students enrolled during the Summer Term of School
Year 2008-2009, which started on March 30, 2009. Thirty-seven honor
graduates led this year’s commencement exercises, of which
three are magna cum laude and 34 are cum laude, last April 16, 2009.
The Keynote Speaker during this year’s commencement exercise
was Dr. William C. Medrano, a Commissioner of the Commission on
Higher Education (CHED) and the Chair of the University’s
Board of Regents (BOR).

Exam Percentage of Passing for Elementary Teachers is 54%, while
for Secondary Teachers is 34%. Based on the performance of the
University’s graduates in the April 2009 Licensure Examination
for Teachers (LET) in the Elementary Level, BSU ranked first among
the Top Performing Schools under Category B (schools with 100-299
examinees). Three students made it to the Search for the Ten Outstanding
Students of CAR.
The Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities
in the Philippines (AACCUP) visited the University last March
5-7, and March 12-13, 2009. Four programs were granted Level III,
Re-accredited Phase II status and the University now has a total
of eight degree programs with Level II, Re-accredited status.
Various researches were continued and monitored in the RDE Programs
of the University one of which is the BINNADANG Project that is
funded by the DOST-PCARRD thru HARRDEC with BSU as the lead implementing
agency. Extension Services include the BSU-on-the-Air, BSU-Cosmic
Demo on Natural Farming, and Technology Piloting, Demonstration
and Commercialization.
The BSU faculty members and staff attended trainings, seminars
and capability building activities in the local and national levels.
Mr. Arnold Lampacan of the Accounting Office passed the 2008 BAR
exams.
The Supply and Property Management Office facilitated the registration
of BSU motor vehicles and the acquisition of a new vehicle. The
Finance sector packaged the Internal Operating Budget for 2010
as endorsed by the Budget Committee and the University Administrative
Council. Payment of mid-year bonus and back COLA for 1994-1995
was given to concerned employees. Moreover, the rice benefit was
distributed to the employees.
The University Business Affairs (UBA) Office acquired BFAD accreditation
for the BSU strawberry jam, ube halaya and 21 baked products.
The University Public Affairs Office published the March and April
editions of Shamag and distributed it to the different campuses.
The UPAO also responded and coordinated visitor requests to visit
the University for benchmarking, educational fieldtrip and ocular
inspection.
The Special Projects under the Office of the President documented
various activities it conducted and accomplished.
