In a series of development planning activities
made under the leadership of Dr. Fortunato A. Battad in 1984, the Department
of Home Technology was changed to the Department of Home Economics under
the College of Teacher Education. Resolution No. 206 s. 1988 of the
Benguet State University Board of Regents created the College of Home
Economics and Technology. The first College Dean was Dr. Rosa C. Abastilla,
who was succeeded by Prof Lory C. Balaoing, Dr. Josefina R. Alonzo and
Dr. Jane K. Avila.
At present, the College is headed by Dr.
Maria Corazon A. Somyden. The CHET has two departments, the Department
of Home Economics and the Department of Human Nutrition and Foods each
of which is headed by a chair. For extension, research, production,
and student affairs, a coordinated for each is designated.
In 1989, a Certificate course in Home
