The
College of Forestry started as a small department of then Mountain State
Agricultural College (MSAC) which offered a ladderized two year Forest
Ranger Certificate Course (FRCC) in 1974. In 1976, a Bachelor of Science
in Forestry program was opened. In 1984, the department catapulted into
an institute. In 1985, it opened a graduate program in forestry with
silviculture and watershed management as major fields. In 1986, MSAC
was transformed into a University, thus elevating its Forestry Institute
into a College status.

produce graduates with an understanding of the social, economic
and political dimensions of forestry and related sciences. |
OBJECTIVES |

1. To produce a corps
of competent forestry technicians with emphasis on forest regeneration,
rehabilitation, and conservation.
2. To produce graduates with understanding of the social,
economic, political and ecological dimensions
and complexities of a sustainable environment.
3. To provide leadership in the conservation and sustainable
development of forest resources through
public education, research and community service.
4. To promote professional development and competence of qualified
and interested graduates in silviculture,
watershed management and related fields of specialization. |
