Benguet State University has lined-up a week-long list of activities in celebration of its 90 th founding anniversary on June 26-30, 2006 .

    With the theme “ BSU: Enhancing Self-Reliance and Capability for Sustainable Development,” the various activities will highlight the University's distinction as a Center of Excellence, which include an exhibit by the Research, Development and Extension (RDE) Sector of BSU, a University Market Encounter, Eco-tours at BSU's Balili Vegetable Garden and Nature's Park, and showcasing of various books and instructional materials collected by the University over time, all of which will run for the whole week.

    BSU will also have its week-long “Alay sa Komunidad,” which involves the provision of medical, dental, and veterinary services, as well as the putting-up of animal and plant clinics, and the conduct of soil analysis.

    The celebration will commence with an ecumenical service in the morning of June 26, followed by the opening program at 10 AM, with Benguet Governor Borromeo Melchor as Guest of Honor and Speaker, unveiling of the 90 th Foundation Anniversary Marker, launching of the centennial landmark fund-raising campaign, and tree-planting. Afternoon activities include the formal opening of the exhibits, the market encounter, and Alay sa Komunidad activities, as well as the launching of the Technology Commercialization Program.

    On June 27, there will be a motorcade along the main thoroughfares of La Trinidad, followed by a Seminar on Certification of Organic Products at 9 AM , indoor demonstrations by elementary and high school students at 10, and MOA signing with institutional partners at 11:30 .

    On June 28, BSU's National Service Training Program (NSTP) Group will be sponsoring a blood-letting program dubbed “Bloodiest Rumble V.” There will also be a BSU grand alumni homecoming, which will start at 8 at the closed gym. In the afternoon, the University will be paying tribute to the men and women who have made significant contributions to the success of the University through an Awards and Recognition Program with Dr. William Dar, Director General of the International Center for Research in Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) based in India , as Guest of Honor and Speaker.

    On June 29, the various colleges will be sponsoring their own academic fora, while the University Business Affairs (UBA) Office will be sponsoring a Seminar on Entrepreneurship at the Gladiola Center . Dr. Dar will also speak about Opportunities for Partnerships and Linkages during an RDE forum at 10AM .

    On June 30, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is sponsoring a faculty / staff wellness and parenting seminar at the Strawberry Hall at 8 AM . There will also be a Seminar on Free Trade at 2 PM at the Strawberry Hall.

    The week-long Foundation Anniversary Affair will be capped by a Closing Program and Recommitment of Service at 5 PM , with former Commercial Attache' Archimedes Gomez as Guest of Honor and Speaker.
