Bokod Campus Mentor Presents Research on Lemon Grass in a
National Convention

    Mrs. Lorna Lino, of the BSU-Bokod campus stood out as she presented her research on the development of lemon grass tea and soap during the Annual Seminar Convention in Home Economics (EPP-TLE) at Grand Men Seng Hotel, Magallanes, Davao City last year.

     Aided by a powerpoint presentation, Lino showed a step by step demonstration on how lemon grass, locally known as “balaniw” is processed into tea and soap.

     She also presented other potentials of “balaniw;”as oil used to cleanse oily skin, as a relaxant in aromatheraphy, as an ingredient in perfumes because of its exotic citrus fragrance as an astringent and as flavoring.

     Lino is also second Most Outstanding Home Economics Teacher in the Philippines .

     The convention with the theme, "Reorienting Human Capital in Home Economics: Meeting Current and Future Challenges" the convention focused to optimize the productivity and efficiency of the human capital in the field of home economics. It was sponsored by the Philippine Home Economics Association (PHEA) in cooperation with the Department of Education, participated by different regional and division supervisors, directors, schools division and city superintendents, principals, school heads of Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) and Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP) departments, and regional and division PHEA coordinators and officers.
