BSU is host and over-all champion of the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) Olympics held last January 29-30. The university garnered 41 gold medals in athletics and 12 gold medals in the Cultural events. The Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) came up 2 nd with 13 gold medals in athletics and 3 gold medals in the cultural events while the ISCAF ranked third in athletics with 6 gold medals. The Olympics aims to select and organize the best athletes who will represent the CARASUC to the 2 nd ASCU-SN Olympics scheduled on February 25-27 at Pangasinan State University , Lingayen. It also aims to develop camaraderie and stronger ties among CARASUC members, their faculty, staff and students. "We encourage all of you to fully participate in the two day meet, we would like to remind you…that in any sports competition we always encourage friendly, fair competition." This was according to BSU President Rogelio D. Colting who represented CARASUC Chairman Dr. Serafin Ngohayon during the opening ceremonies. "We must remember that those who has the will and dedication to master their trade will prevail and ultimately win, to those would be winners be jubilant and generous and to those who will not win this time be magnanimous in defeat do not resent for losing a game instead continue to improve your skill your techniques because in the long run, you will be rewarded. May the best team win," he added. The athletic competition includes track and field, volleyball, chess, table tennis, ball games, badminton, lawn tennis, taekwondo and sepak takraw. These were coordinated by Prof. Estrelita Corpuz. The literary-cultural competition includes literary and visual arts events, musical events, dances and quiz bowl. These was coordinated by Prof. Gregorio Taag. Member schools are the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST), Apayao State College (ASC), BSU, Ifugao State College of Agriculture and Forestry (ISCAF), Kalinga Apayao State College (KASC) and the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC). |
