Ninety seven Scout Officials for a Day (SOFAD) took their Oath of Office at the Ben Palispis Hall at the  Benguet Capitol yesterday morning.  Afterwards, they were accompanied to report to their respective offices by incumbent officials to ensure a smooth and friendly transition.  The activity was among those set by the leaders of the Boy and Girl Scouts of the Philippines-Benguet Chapter and the local government unit of Benguet in line with the celebration of the National Scouting Month this October.

The scout who sat as governor of Benguet was Sct. Remegio D. Mora Jr, a senior student of the Benguet State University-Secondary Laboratory School (BSU-CTE, SLS).

As a staunch supporter of the scouting movement, the Benguet State University (BSU) Main Campus opened its doors to most of the scout officials (51) when they sat as heads of offices for a day yesterday, 16 October, as Scout Officials for a Day.

For the other offices, 29 scout officials occupied the seats as heads of the various provincial offices; 16, of national line agencies; and one as head of a non-government organization.

These 97 scouts are high school students in their freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior levels.  Their participation in the program was subjected to an earlier screening based on scouting criteria and allocation quota.  The highest 20 boy and girl scouts were elevated to a special screening committee while the 77 were already assigned to their respective positions. Among the hot and contested positions were the Benguet governor, vice- governor, and the board members; BSU President and the four vice-presidents; PNP provincial director; and the provincial prosecutor.

The SOFAD program culminated with a closing program also held at the Ben Palispis Hall at 5PM.
