CAS Adopts Benguet Schools
12.09.09 -JRLampac

After a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed during the 139th Benguet State University Board of Regents Meeting on March 3, 2009 at the Ifugao State University (IFSU), BSU through the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) adopted two high schools in Benguet.

The aim of the MOA is to implement projects such as the conduct of seminars and trainings. The two schools adopted are Madaymen National High School (MNHS) in Kibungan and Ampusongan National High School (ANHS) in Bakun.

According to CAS Dean Aurea Marie Sandoval, they also adopted all the public high schools of Benguet.

“In the adoption of the schools, the faculty members of CAS will be offering their different expertise on Biology, Chemistry, Social Science and others in extension works, trainings and seminars. Eco-waste Management is also among the many things that will be shared with the adopted schools,” she added.

As the adopting party, BSU will assist the Human Resource Development of the adopted high schools through seminars and trainings. Invitations shall be extended to teachers of MNHS and other schools in the vicinity on every opportunity.

CAS staff and professors will also be tapped as resource persons during in-house trainings at MNHS. University facilities like vehicles, session rooms, and audio-visual equipment may be used during school events in the university premises. The University library will also assist the adopted school in sourcing free books for their own  library.
