Department turns 10

The
department of Development Communication celebrated their 10th year anniversary
thru a series of activities from August 26-28 with the theme, “A
decade of DevCom: Daring Dashing and Determined.”
“DevCom has been daring and bold in fulfilling the mission of
DevCom which is to serve and uplift the grassroots and for the next
years, DevCom will always be daring, dashing and determined,”
explained DevCom Society president, Ronalyn Banaken regarding the theme.
“In ten years, we were able to have ten batches, we already have
our own department effective 1st Sem SY 2009-2010, our faculty are about
to finish their MS Degrees and we will be having our AACCUP Accreditation
for Level 1,” said OIC Department Chair, Prof. Lizelle B. Wakat
enumerating the departments accomplishments in ten years.
“We received one TAYO (Ten Achieved Youth Organizations) award,
four of our students received an OSCAR (Outstanding Students of CAR)
and we had our first magna cum laude,” she added.
Quiz, spelling and essay competition, forums, exhibits and a series
of film showing were conducted during the three-day celebration. An
alumni homecoming was also organized by the DevCom faculty and students
on August 29 where a consultation for a proposed DevCom curriculum was
held.
