After
a courtesy call at the Administration building conference hall, Dr.
Sang-Gil, Jeong and party was welcomed through a program at the Gladiola
Center. The Highland Dance Troupe, Dramatics Club and the Glee Club,
with their talents gave the Korean visitors a memorable experience of
the Filipino culture.
The purpose of the visit was to negotiate for the possibility of JSU
helping BSU build a three-hectare motor pool as the result of initial
discussions made between JSU and BSU represented by Dr. Rogelio Colting,
Dr. Janet Luis and Prof. Gloria Lee during their trip to Korea last
May.
“They told me that they have a very good motor pool, that’s
what I heard because every student there they have one car for them
to tinker and study,” Prof. Lee narrated
“They are very good in auto mechanics, they have the industrial
education that’s why we came up with an idea that we can also
have student exchanges or also faculty exchanges so that they (BSU auto
mechanic students and faculty) can also be updated,” she added.
It can be recalled that during the 23rd Charter Day of the University
in January 2009, BSU and JSU inked an MOU on research and student and
faculty exchange.
JSU also donated a 40 inch LCD TV and computer units to the university.
After a visit to the Philippine Military Academy, they likewise agreed
to donate 30 computer units to the academy.
