23 Students Survive WIWAG Business Week
03.17.09 -JSTabangcura with Reports from NADiwas & JCDep-as

Ten Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Technology students from the College of Home Economics and Technology and 13 Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness students from the College of Agriculture finished the third run of the WIWAG Business Simulation Program held at the Gladiola Center from March 9-13.

The WIWAG Business Simulation Program sponsored by the EYE (Education for Youth Enterprise) Foundation Inc., the Swiss Embassy of Manila and Holcim is a five-day training concept in business management based on a computer-assisted business simulation game given mostly to SUC (State Universities and Colleges) students taking up business related courses.

The course requires the students to conceptualize a business and throughout the course, they will learn how to manage their business from production to marketing and human relations.

“We would like you to be successful entrepreneurs so you could employ yourself and even employ others after graduation,” said BSU President Dr. Rogelio D. Colting to the students during the opening of the course.

For Ian Joseph J. Quiamco, an Agribusiness student who is one of the WIWAG graduates, he learned that ‘a person involved in business must not only be concerned about profits but should also be concerned about the community, the families of his/her employees and the nation.’

The course was facilitated by volunteers from the EYE Foundation, Inc. led by their Executive Director, Elaine Mapa. The WIWAG Program has been implemented in the university since 2005. So far there are already 25 SUCs in the country who is implementing the program and there are already about 2,000 graduates.
