BSU Champs CARASUC Meet '09 02.04.09 -JSTabangcura Benguet State University is the champion of the Cordillera Association of State Colleges and Universities (CARASUC) athletic meet held on January 30- February 1, 2009 at the BSU sports complex. BSU with 26 gold medals is followed by the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College with ten gold medals and the University of the Philippines-Baguio with eight gold medals. UP-Baguio is the newest member of the CARASUC and it's the first time for the school to join the athletic meet. "The presence of UP strengthens the CARASUC," said CARASUC outgoing chairman Dr. Serafin Ngohayon of the Ifugao State College of Agriculture and Forestry (ISCAF) during the opening of the athletic meet on January 30. "We welcome UP as the 7th member of CARASUC," continued Dr. Ngohayon emphasizing that CARASUC is now the SUC association in North Luzon with the most number of members. "CARASUC is one of the regions that are strong and solid due to the cooperation and openness of everyone," he added reminiscing the accomplishments of CARASUC during his stint as the chairman. Dr. Zacarias Baluscang of the Apayao State College will take over as the new CARASUC chair. Winners of the athletic meet will represent CARASUC on the upcoming Association of State Colleges and Universities-Solid North (ASCU-SN) olympics on February 18-20 at the BSU sports complex. The ASCU-SN is an association of SUCs in North Luzon. |
