Cong. Romulo, Sec. Montejo to grace BSU’s 89th Commencement Exercises

Pasig City Representative Roman T. Romulo and DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo will inspire the 1,335 graduates of Benguet State University on April 12, 2014.

Cong. Romulo serves as the chairperson of the Committee on Higher and Technical Education of the House of Representatives. By virtue of his position, he sees to it that all legislation regarding the improvement and the progress of our country’s higher and technical education be given priority. He is also a member of the BSU Board of Regents.

Cong. Romulo will be addressing graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Home Economics and Technology, College of Nursing and College of Teacher Education in the morning of April 12.

Meanwhile, DOST Sec. Mario G. Montejo is a mechanical engineer by profession. He is a recipient of a gold medal for Creative Research from the Filipino Inventors Society Inc. for his automatic parking invention when he was president of Northwest Steel (NS Inc). He will be addressing the graduates from the College of Agriculture, College of Engineering and Applied Technology, Institute of Human Kinetics, Graduate School and Open University in the afternoon of April 12.

The graduation program for the graduates of diploma and certificate courses will be held on April 7, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. The guest of honor and speaker will be Robert F. Kuan, entrepreneur and governor, Rotary District 3830 will.

The Students’ Achievement and Recognition program will be held on April 11, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Dr. Mark Michael S. Palazo, BSU topnotcher in the Veterinary Medicine Licensure Examination in 2010.

All activities will be held in the University Gymnasium. The graduation rites will be video streamed in the Open Gym so that guests and relatives who will not be accommodated in the venue will be able to view the activities.

According to Pres. Ladilad, the speakers were chosen because of their experience, track record and current engagements. He said that they are champions in their respective fields: education/policy trends; Science and Technology; entrepreneurship and student leadership. For the graduates, he said that the university is always there for them, should they need pieces of advice and assistance. As the head and father of the institution he wishes the graduates well and encouraged them to have the will to achieve their dreams, as having the will is a primary ingredient to success.
