BSU welcomes holiday season with Christmas Tree Lighting

Students and employees gathered on October 23, 2018 in front of the Administration Building to witness the official Christmas Tree Lighting. This ceremony is fast becoming a University tradition with the first one held on December 7, 2016.

After BSU President, Feliciano G. Calora Jr. switched the lights on, a contest on who could best give a rendition of the Christmas Carol “Joy to the World” was facilitated by the Planning and Development Office. Seven groups of employees and students joined the contest. The winners under the student category are Joshem Mangangey and company (1st place with Php 2,000 cash prize), Jasper Castillo and company (2nd place with Php 1,000 cash prize) and Allan Cholinas and company (3rd place with Php 600 cash prize). Patricia Castillo and company and Sharilyn Rufino and company were given consolation prizes of Php 500 each.

In the employee category, Donato Wanawan and company from the General Services Office were the sole winners with their rendition of Joy to the World Gawed ken Bua, a popular version among locals depicting the joys of chewing Betel Nut. They received Php 1,500 cash prize. Melvin’s Angels, Elmer Pulgue and the Minions and Grace Bengwayan and company received consolation prizes of Php 500 each.

The winners were determined based on voice quality, timing, originality and creativity and overall impact by Prof. Liezl Villagracia, Norelyn Nuñez and Annie Benawe Calado of the BSU Glee Club.//JSTabangcura
