BSU CCA Hold 1st Iinter-College Socio-Cultural Competition

The BSU Center for Culture and the Arts (CCA) held its first inter-college socio-cultural competition with the theme "Showcasing God-given talents for the good of humanity" on February 27, 2023, at the Dominador S. Garin Hall, College of Teacher Education.

Dr. Leonardo L. Samonte, CCA director, presented the activity's rationale and hoped that the University strengthens the event in the following years. According to him, the center will select University representatives to compete in the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) Athletic Meet in April 2023 to be hosted by Kalinga State University.

Meanwhile, Executive Assistant to the Governor and Guest Speaker Dr. Ryan Guinaran highlighted the importance of the arts. "Arts are seen as the vowel alphabet. A-E-I-O-U. "A for aesthetic empathy, E for an effective healer, I for immense intergenerational bonds, O for an opportunity of expression, and U for unifying force," he said.

The participants of the inter-college socio-cultural competition were from the BSU La Trinidad, Bokod, and BSU Buguias Campuses. The competition was divided into two categories: visual arts and musical. The visual arts competition had four subcategories: painting, an on-the-spot poster-making contest, charcoal rendering, and pencil drawing. The musical competition also had four subcategories: instrumental solo, vocal solo, vocal duet, and pop solo.
