BSU Benchmarks Smart Systems of DOST CALABARZON, BatStateU

Aligned with the university’s vision as an International Smart University, BSU personnel benchmarked the ICT best practices including its policies and processes in place, as well as the information systems of DOST-CALABARZON on March 10, 2022.  

Engr. Francisco R. Barquilla III, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations, and Bianca Pantoja of the Management Information Systems (MIS) Unit shared their developed information systems that the DOST-CALABARZON has been using over the past years. Barquilla emphasized that using information systems produces efficiency and productivity in the workplace such that it streamlines processes it simplifies and modernizes processes.

“The implementation of information systems is beneficial because it has data analytics that can be used for various purposes in planning or point of studies of different sectors,” said Dr. Barquilla.

Through the benchmarking session, BSU appraised DOST-CALABARZON’s existing information systems for potential adoption to further enhance the university’s operations and support the administrative workforce.

DOST-CALABARZON’s developed information systems include the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), the Tracking, Retrieval, Archiving of Communications for Efficiency (TRACE), Information and Monitoring of Projects, Services, and S&T Interventions (IMPRESSION), and Tracking, Retrieval, Archiving of Documents for Efficiency (TRADE).

Moreover, Lyn Alcantara Fernandez, OIC-Assistant Regional Director for Finance and Administrative Services, talked about DOST-CALABARZON’s recruitment process through the DOST Competency for Regional Excellence (DCORE) program. Said program contains the competency dictionary for all the available positions by all DOST regional offices utilized in their recruitment, selection, and placement (RSP) process. 

Emelita P. Bagsit, Regional Director of DOST-CALABARZON capped the session by extending her support to the university. She said that DOST-CALABARZON is looking forward to the successful implementation of these information systems upon the said university’s potential adoption.

In addition, the BSU personnel looked at the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) and document tracking systems of Batangas State University. Atty. Noel Alberto S. Omandap, Vice President for Development and External Affairs, presented the processes in the implementation of such smart systems.
