NEUST-OSAS Benchmarks BSU's Best Practices
Nine personnel from Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology Office of Student Affairs and Services, headed by OSAS Dean Mr. Almon M. Alegadol, conducted a benchmarking activity and a consultative meeting at Benguet State University OSS Social Hall on February 28, 2023, that aimed to exchange ideal practices on services offered for the welfare of the students.
After recognizing the visitors, Student Discipline Unit Head Editha A. Grande, Vocational and Placement Unit Head Ramon C. Fiangaan Jr., Student Housing Unit Edna B. Delmas, and other staff members of the BSU-OSS office offered to start the engaging question-and-answer forum on the best practices of student services. The discussion focused on the exchange of information on student concerns involving conduct, discipline, complaints, and processing; qualifications in attaining a scholarship; testing services mainly on psychological testing; student counseling on the prevention, postvention, and protocol associated with mental health; a furthered understanding on the Youth Development Assistant; and advice on housing management highlighting student accommodations.

TSU Benchmarks at BSU
Eight Tarlac State University (TSU) personnel, headed by Mr. John Erwin C. Panlilio, director of the Finance Office, came to Benguet State University (BSU) on March 7, 2023, for a benchmarking activity on the procurement processes for production services of the University.
During their visit, Dr. Norma P. Banania, vice-president for Business Affairs, Atty. Andres Arnold W. Lampacan, chief administrative officer of the Finance Division, Atty. Reynante B. Basco, Bids and Awards Committee chairperson for Goods and Services, Arsenia L. Bayawa, head of the Procurement Office, and Jocelyn Mauting, staff of the Procurement Office answered inquiries, gave advice, and exchanged ideas, experiences, and practices regarding food processing and the procurement of goods and raw materials.
Furthermore, the visitors visited the BSU Agri-based Technology Business Incubator/Innovation Center facilities and BSU Marketing Center. Also, TSU took the opportunity to have a quick visit to the BSU Strawberry Farm.

CSU Gonzaga Campus Benchmarks BSU-CA's Best Practices
Six Cagayan State University (CSU) Gonzaga campus officials, headed by Prof. Laurine A. Balatico, came to Benguet State University (BSU) to benchmark the best practices of the College of Agriculture, specifically on accreditation, on March 3, 2023. Dr. Constantino T. Sudaypan, Sr., with the Department Chairs, met with the visitors and assisted them during their stay at BSU.
During their visit, Dr. Sudaypan and the team answered queries and shared the experiences and best practices of the College concerning accreditation, such as faculty profile, linkages for students, board exam preparations, admission policy, and research and extension. In addition, the CSU officials took the opportunity to visit the University Library and asked questions that were catered to by Director Lauren P. Kipaan and his team.
The CSU Gonzaga- College of Agriculture will undergo Level III Accreditation for the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Program. Conducting this benchmarking activity is deemed essential in their preparation for the accreditation in July-December 2023.

LSPU - Los Baños Benchmarks BSU-CA Best Practices
Nine Laguna State Polytechnic University (LPSU)- Los Baños faculty members from the College of Fisheries visited Benguet State University (BSU) to benchmark the best practices of the College of Agriculture (CA), particularly on accreditation last March 9, 2023.
CA Dean Dr. Constantino T. Sudaypan, Sr., with the Department Chairs, met with the visitors and assisted them during their stay at BSU. During their visit, Dr. Sudaypan and the team answered questions and shared experiences and best practices of the college concerning accreditation, such as admission policy, faculty profile, academic-related documents, and linkages for students, among others.
According to the guests, the benchmarking activity will serve as an effective strategy for improving their program by adapting other universities' best practices in pursuit of quality and excellence. The LSPU- Los Baños College of Fisheries will undergo accreditation for the Bachelor of Science in Agri- Fisheries Business Management.

WMSU Benchmarks BSU's Best Practices
Seven officials from Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), led by Hostel Manager and Dean of the College of Home Economics Dr. Lucia M. Santos, visited Benguet State University on March 13, 2023, for a benchmarking activity on the best practices and experiences of the production sector.
At the RDC Hall, Vice-President for Business Affairs Dr. Norma Palaci Banania warmly welcomed the guests before the discussion began. Consequently, the College of Home Economics and Technology Dean and Food Processing Center Manager Dr. Jao-jao Somyden shared best practices and answered queries on the production activities of BSU, which were focused mainly on the overall operation of the BSU Income Generating Projects (IGPs).
After the productive sharing of best practices and experiences, the WMSU team took the opportunity to visit some of the University IGPs, including the Bakery, Food Processing Center, and Marketing Center, to experience firsthand the operations of the said projects.

DMMSU - SLUC Benchmarks BSU
Faculty representatives from the Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BAComm) Program at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus (DMMSU-SLUC) paid a visit to the university for benchmarking activity at the BSU Multimedia Station (MMS).
This is in line with DMMSU-SLUC's plan to create its own Media Center in South La Union Campus. Specifically, the visiting university aims to solicit technical insight on the set-up and maintenance of the laboratory as a basis for their future operation.
Dr. Igrelyn Pinos-an, Paul Joseph Nuval, and Christine Grace Fuchigami from the Department of Development Communication narrated the humble beginnings of the BSU MMS during the discussion. Questions and further sharing were entertained and exchanged between the two universities.//CNapiloy

Bulacan - LGU Benchmarks BSU - BAPTC's Best Practices
Nine delegates from the Local Government Unit of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan led by Business Development Office Head Ronald D. Soriano came to Benguet State University on March 16, 2023, to benchmark the best practices in business management and development of BSU-Benguet Agri-Pinoy Trading Center (BAPTC).
Accompanied by Market Supervisor II of La Trinidad LGU Janice B. Alleg, the guests paid a courtesy visit to BSU President Felipe Salaing Comila. Afterward, they visited and observed the business operations of the BAPTC. During the open forum, the guests learned about the trading management and operations of state-ran trading businesses. Moreover, BAPTC-Human Resource Management Unit Officer Mildred A. Licangan shared about the start-up of the center and its strengths and weaknesses in management. They discussed farming strategies, operations and negotiations with farmers, pricing of products, peaks of trade, retails and stalls, and consultations with different barangays in the locality.

LSPU Benchmarks at BSU
Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) conducted a benchmarking activity at Benguet State University earlier today, March 23, to gather the best practices of BSU's five colleges, including the College of Numeracy and Applied Sciences (CNAS), College of Information Sciences, College of Natural Sciences (CNS), College of Social Sciences, and College of Teacher Education.
LSPU College of Arts and Sciences Dean Dr. Richard C. Ampo led the other 22 delegates composed of associate deans, a librarian, and faculty members. Dr. Ampo said that gathered best practices may be adopted by their college.
On the other hand, BSU Vice-President for Administration and Finance Atty. Allan Casaldo Sacpa, CNAS Dean Dr. Ederson Bawang, Department Chairpersons, and other faculty members from the said BSU colleges joined the visitors at the RDC Hall and had an interactive sharing of the best practices of each college.
The visitors inquired about the different programs offered by the colleges, such as B.S. Mathematics, B.S. Applied Statistics, B.S. Development Communication, B.S. Biology, B.S. Chemistry, and B.S. Psychology. Some of the best practices shared were related to enrollment processes, the number and hiring processes of faculty, syllabus preparation, licensure examinations, level of accreditations of the degree programs, research and extension activities, preparation of syllabus and instructional materials, library, and facilities. LSPU delegates also shared their best practices during the discussion.
Further, Dr. Ampo and Atty. Sacpa expressed appreciation for the exchange of the best practices. The latter also reiterated the importance of collaboration in contributing to achieving the goals and objectives of the Universities.

ASCOT Benchmarks BSU's Best Practices
Eighteen delegates from Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) located in Baler, Aurora, visited Benguet State University (BSU) for a benchmarking activity to seek and compare the best practices of specific University offices on March 22, 2023. Visited offices were the Office for Quality Assurance and Accreditation, Office of the Vice-President for Administration and Finance, Office of the Vice-President for Administration and Finance, Research and Extension, and University Library and Information Services.
Before their engagement at the said offices, BSU President Dr. Felipe Salaing Comila, with VPAA Dr. Samuel Salay Poliden, VPAF Atty. Allan Casaldo Sacpa, and VPBA Dr. Norma Palaci Banania, welcomed the delegates at the Office of the University President.
Afterward, the team had the opportunity to tour BSU Strawberry Farm to further observe and inquire about the best practices of the farm and bought souvenir products produced by the farm as well.//KKKiaso (BAComm Intern)

NWU - SSC Benchmarks Best Practices of BSU - SSG LT
The Northwestern University Supreme Student Council (NWU SSC) held a benchmarking activity at Benguet State University to learn the best practices of the BSU-Supreme Student Government La Trinidad Campus (BSU-SSG LT) earlier today, March 24.
Thirteen officers of the NWU SSC, along with their adviser Dr. Noel T. Lahip, and NWU Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Agustina A. Dancel-Matias, met with BSU-SSG LT officers at the Office of the Student Services Hall. BSU-SSG LT President and Student-Regent Ana Marie Tangonan shared the SSG's platforms, eight-point agenda, student programs, activities conducted, and other best practices.
The SSG officers answered questions from the visitors on the processes and conduct of activities, the conduct of elections during the pandemic, and the problems encountered, among others.
Meanwhile, the NWU SSC officers expressed their gratitude for accommodating them and sharing with them the best practices significant to their aim of serving the students.

LGCD Visits BSUs Agricultural Programs
Over 30 Municipal Agricultural Officers and Local Government Units officers from different regions across Luzon, as a part of Local Governance and Community Development Initiatives, INC (LGCD), visited Benguet State University for a campus tour of various BSU centers on March 30, 2023.
BSU President Felipe Salaing Comila shared anecdotes and an inspirational message. Pres. Comila emphasized that failure is part of the journey to greatness.
After their courtesy call with President Comila, the group visited the Agri-based Technology Business Incubator/Innovation Center (ATBI/IC), Strawberry Farm, Northern Philippine Root Crops Research and Training Center (NPRCRTC), Food Science Research and Innovation Center (FSRIC), Institute of Highland Farming Systems and Agroforestry (IHFSA), and Benguet Agri-Pinoy Trading Center (BAPTC) to engage with BSU employees in knowledge sharing of best practices and operations of the centers.
BSU Vice-President for Business Affairs and BAPTC Chief Operations Officer Dr. Norma P. Banania, NPRCRTC Director Cynthia G. Kiswa, FSRIC Director Lesley Dale G. Umayat, NPRCRTC Division Chief Grace Backian were among the BSU officials who met with the group during their visit.

BPSU - CE Benchmarks BSU - CTE
Twenty-nine delegates from the College of Education of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Dinalupihan Campus headed by their Dean of Instruction Dr. Glenda C. Magno, visited Benguet State University (BSU) to benchmark the best practices of the university’s College of Teacher Education on March 30, 2023.
This is in line with the plan of BPSU College of Education (CE) to undergo fourth-level accreditation. Specifically, the delegates aim to inquire about the requirements, techniques, and insights on how they can pass the said accreditation level.
The delegates were warmly welcomed by the College of Teacher Education (CTE) Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) Department Chairperson Dr. Emelda E. Villa at the CTE Dominador S. Garin (DSG) Hall. They were joined by other members of the BSU-CTE executive committee Dr. Evelyn S. Angiwan and Dr. Rosita B. Kudan from the Department of Early Childhood Education, Chairperson of the Department of Elementary Teacher Education Dr. Alexandra S. Sad-ang, OIC Chairperson of the Department of Secondary Teacher Education Dr. Jean Jannette V. De Joya, CTE Research Coordinator Dr. Apler Bansiong, College Secretary Dr. Jingle P. Cuevas and other faculty members from CTE.
The participants watched the BSU briefer; afterward, a fruitful exchange of ideas about the best practices of BSU CTE and BPSU CE took place. BSU-CTE executive committee members answered the queries of the guests about the strategies and techniques of the college on how they attained fourth-level accreditation. Specifically, they shared about the qualifications of faculty members, undergraduate research, collaborative research and projects of the faculty members, maintaining a high level for the graduate licensure examination, tracing the employment of graduates, as well as national and international linkages of the university and other related matters.
After the productive sharing between the two universities, some delegates visited the BSU Human Resource Management Office to benchmark the best practices of the said office.

RCMPC Benchmarks BSU IGP's Best Practices
Delegates from Runruno Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative (RCMPC), located at Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya, had a benchmarking activity with Benguet State University on the best practices of its Income Generating Projects on March 31, 2023.
Food Science Research and Innovation Center (FSRIC) Director Lesley Dale G. Umayat discussed with the group the center's best practices and processes for acquiring funding and trainings conducted by the center. He and his team also showcased the center's different products such as Dehydrated Vegetables, Tomato Lemon Marmalade, Vegetable Cookies, Vegetable Miki, Vegetable Udon, and Vegetable Pasta, and gave pointers on how each product is made and packaged.
After the discussion, the group visited the Food Processing Center, Bakery, and Marketing Center. BSU employees at the centers received the group and answered their queries regarding the technology and centers procedures.
