International Student Unit

The Unit provides welfare assistance programs to foreign students on matters related to personal, socio-cultural, academic, psychological, and emotional concerns.

Functions:
• Facilitates International Exchange and Educational tours/activities to provide foreign students exposure to Filipino culture.
• Conducts group dynamics or counseling to help foreign students cope with their academic difficulties.
• Facilitates approval of visa extension/renewal of study permit through coordination and maintenance of linkages with the Commission on Higher Education,Department of Foreign Affairs, and Bureau of Immigration.
• Creates a database of foreign students’ profile for accessible reference, functional use and file.

Programs:
1. Cultural Immersion Seminar- aims to address cultural differences without resorting
to stereotypes; to create opportunities for character development by teaching tolerance and respect for people, to ingrain awareness on Filipino culture; and to address issues related to cultural diversity.
2. Intercultural Exchange- the activities aim to provide foreign students opportunities to mingle with other nationalities and share their own culture through presentations.
3. Academic Counseling- conducted to foreign students with problems regarding their grades, professors, or other relative factors which impede their academic progress. It aims to enable foreign students get the highest possible grades in the subjects that they are enrolled in.
4. Personality Factor Test for Graduating Students- The 16 Personality Factors Test aims to help graduating foreign students assess the qualities and characteristics they have and identify those that they need to develop in order to meet the requirements of their future job.
5. Student Visa Extension Assistance- aims to help foreign students with the documentary requirements for the student visa extension to the Bureau of Immigration.
6. Educational Tour/ Activities- aim to provide foreign students exposure to Filipino culture and environs.
7. Tribute to the Graduate/s- aims to acknowledge and laud foreign students who were able to conquer academic endeavors and eventually finish their degree. It is also an avenue of sharing and inspiring other foreign students to finish their course.
